Digital image of an illustration of a Campani microscope being used as a diagnostic tool in medicine. (1686) Giuseppe Campani, a scientist and lens maker (1634-1715) crafted his microscope and in the illustration it is being used to examine a man on a table while a woman holds a candle and mirror for illumination. This image highlights the early potential of the instrument in scientific investigation.
